Stingray attack and snake bite keeps Qld emergency services busy

A man has been airlifted to hospital in the state’s north following a stingray attack on a popular tourist beach.

A man has been airlifted to hospital in the state’s north following a stingray attack on a popular tourist beach on Saturday afternoon.

Just after 4:30pm, reports surfaced of a stingray attack on a man swimming at Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays. Following boat transfer to Hamilton Island, the man was airlifted to Mackay Hospital in a stable condition, sustaining injuries to his arm.

Meanwhile, an elderly man has been rushed to hospital following a snake bite in Brisbane’s north on Saturday afternoon.

The man in his 60s was bitten by a snake at a private residence just past 3:00pm this afternoon and was subsequently transported to Redcliffe Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
