LNP ‘transparent’ but won’t reveal tax policy or ramping target

Opposition leader David Crisafulli claims the LNP is transparent in all its costings but still won’t reveal the details of an important policy and target.

Opposition Leader David Crisafulli has sensationally claimed he has shown voters how the LNP would fund all of its costing promises, despite repeatedly refusing to reveal his tax policy.

The LNP Leader on Thursday said he had been transparent in providing all costings and funding for the swathe of election announcements.

“You know how seriously I take the ability to pay for something, the fact that every time we’ve made an announcement, we’ve shown it how it’s costed and how it’s going to be funded, is really important,” he said.

But Mr Crisafulli has not shown Queenslanders how he plans to pay for the billions of dollars worth of election promises, refusing to reveal the LNP’s tax plan for a third consecutive day.

He has pledged taxes and debt would be lower under an LNP government and not revealed where additional revenue would be generated.

Mr Crisafulli has also declined to say whether expenditure would be lower.

“When we’ve made all our announcements, you will see that fully costed and fully funded in the same way that all levels of government and all sides of politics have always done, and that is that is an open and transparent way, and it’s not anything startling,” he said.

Mr Crisafulli has pledged to end cost blowouts on infrastructure projects.

Mr Crisafulli travelled to Emu Park in the Keppel electorate on Thursday to make a $50m mental health funding announcement.

Asked again what ambulance ramping targets he would hold his health minister account to, Mr Crisafulli deflected to the government, saying he would only reveal the figures when the latest quarterly health data was published.

He then asked journalists to pressure the government to release the data, offering the LNP’s ramping targets as a reward.

“They’ve had it (data) for three days,” he said.

“I believe the government will release it because they haven’t, and I’d like you to exercise a bit of pressure on them in the short term.

“I’m confident you will extract that.”
