Deadline looms for LNP to reveal costings as early voting set to start

Premier Steven Miles has accused David Crisafulli of hiding and challenged the LNP to release its costings before early voting begins in just a few days in response to a reader question.

Premier Steven Miles has again challenged the LNP to release its costings before early voting begins on October 14.

Mr Miles said it was not good enough for Opposition Leader David Crisafulli to keep stalling on the details of how he would pay for what Labor claimed was now $17bn in promises, while simultaneously vowing not to borrow or raise taxes.

“We have a live website which we are updating daily with all of our election promises and details of how they will be funded,’’ he said in response to a question from The Courier-Mail reader Merv Maxwell of Peregian Springs.

“That is the complete opposite to what the LNP and David Crisafulli are doing.

“They are doing their very best to hide their costings from Queenslanders.

Reader question for Crisafulli on budgets

“They want Queenslanders to vote without knowing what they will cut to fund their $17bn worth of promises so far.

“The first Queenslanders will start voting in just a few days, and those Queenslanders will vote without knowing David Crisafulli’s position on abortion, on new stadiums, on costings on how he intends to fund his $17bn worth of uncosted election promises.’’

Premier on reader question about Labor's spending

In response to Mr Maxwell’s question “how are you going to pay for your promises?’’, Mr Crisafulli said “by respecting your money’’.

He added that he also would not proceed with the “$24 billion con job’’ that was the government’s pumped hydro plan.

“Also, by ensuring that the days of consultancies running out of control become a thing of the past, by making sure that ministers are held accountable and the days of multi-billion dollar blowouts on projects don’t occur,’’ he said.

“And if you do that, and we continue to grow the economy, Queensland will have a government they can be proud of, again, that will have respect for your money.’’
