TOOWOOMBA North LNP MP Trevor Watts will today promise a Deb Frecklington LNP Government would fund a business case into a new major road between Highfields and Wilsonton.`
Mr Watts said the LNP would commit $3 million for the business case, funded under the SEQ Congestion Program, as part of its plan to lead Queensland out of recession.
“This is a significant infrastructure project for those living north of Toowoomba,” Mr Watts said.
“It will help future-proof our road network and meet the growing needs of the Highfields community.
“The secondary connection road will bridge Old Goombungee Road and Boundary Street over Gowrie Creek, providing a direct connection between Highfields and Wilsonton.”
Mr Watts said it was a job-creating and congestion-busting project which would reduce the number of cars travelling on the New England Highway and Ruthven Street each day.
“It will also give the residents of Highfields direct access to the Toowoomba Bypass and an alternative route to the southern suburbs of Toowoomba,” he said.
Mr Watts said the $3 million funding commitment was a key part of the LNP’s plan to get Queensland working again by building the roads, dams and bridges we need and creating a decade of secure jobs for our region.
