ALP member Leanne Linard has won the seat of Nudgee, reclaiming the Labor stronghold for the third time since she first took the seat in 2015.

Linard won the vote with 52.44 per cent, beating out Ryan Shaw of the Liberal National Party.

Health and border security proved a key election issue in Nudgee electorate, where voters stood in support of tough border controls and a the ALP’s economic recovery plan.

Here’s what it means for you.

ROADS

$200,000 commitment for a feasibility study into the Banyo Rd intersection upgrade.

HEALTH

Linard has pledged to support the Queensland Nurses and Midwives Union to provide more secure and permanent jobs for nurses and midwives across Brisbane’s north and increase the minimum ratios in areas of need.

SCHOOLS

$500,000 to expand and improve the facilities at the after-hours school care at Boondall State School, which aims to create a better learning and play experience for students and provide greater support to working parents.

$450,000 investment in modern school facilities in Nudgee, including $150,000 to build a new prep playground for children at the Virginia State Primary School and $300,000 to upgrade the administration building at Northgate State School.

SPORTS

$100,000 in funding to resurface and irrigate the fields of the Kedron AFL Football Club.
