The Shed Stanthorpe: Construction begins on unique style short stay accommodation

Tourism in Stanthorpe could skyrocket with construction soon to begin on the region’s newest and unique architectural short-stay accommodation.

The brains behind the design, Brisbane-based architect Karlie Price and her husband Ben, are eager to present their commercial style inspired getaway to the region.

Having ties to the area, Mrs Price said her family have often visited the region and grew fonder after each trip.

Wanting to offer something unique to the region along with her husband Ben, the couple purchased a vacant lot in Matthew St.

“We just love everything Stanthorpe has to offer, it’s the hidden gem of South East Queensland,” she said.

The search for a building contractor came to fruition in November, with local business GHC Building Solutions to have a slab poured before Christmas.

The interior of the short-term accommodation will feature a modern, yet simple take on a commercial style building and awarding the short stay its name.

“(The interior) will feature concrete floors, it’s a two-bedroom design with the ability to sleep up to six,” she said.

Mrs Price said the loft style accommodation will include a “nook” which will work as an additional bedroom, and is an architectural design feature.

“It’s different to the other types of rentals you would see in Stanthorpe,” she said.

The Shed is set to be completed and ready for the public to get their hands on in April 2024, with a grand opening party for the Price family already in the works.
