IT HAS been another wonderful year at Greenlands and the school year has finished on a high. In week nine we went on a whole school excursion to SeaWorld on the Gold Coast, where the students had so many exciting educational experiences. Students watched the Affinity Dolphin Show and had a very special talk with one of the dolphin trainers. Polar Bear Shores and Shark Bay were also favourites with the students and they got up close with polar bears, sharks, stingrays and more. The students got to experience the thrill of the rides as well. Thanks to our wonderful P&C for subsiding almost the entire cost of attending.
AWARDS
OUR students received lots of awards in the lead-up to the end of the school year. Our robotics students competed in the inaugural Granite Bet Robotics Competition and did a fantastic job, placing first and third. Georgia Reimers was awarded runner-up at the Granite Belt Lecturette Competition. Thomas and Georgia Reimers also won age champions for their respective divisions at the Small Schools Athletics Carnival. At our P&C break-up, a crowd of close to 400 enjoyed a performance from each classroom and celebrated the success of the students as academic, effort, improvement, peer support, reading, sports and arts awards were handed out to students across the school. Congratulations to Brodi Barnes, who was awarded both the school leadership award and the Stanthorpe RSL Prize for demonstrating the Anzac spirit.
