Alleged armed man sparked lockdown at a Stanthorpe medical facility

A Stanthorpe medical facility went into lockdown after heavily armed police were called in response to an allegation of an armed man. Full details here.

A Stanthorpe medical facility was sent into lockdown for a short period on Wednesday after heavily armed police were called to the McGregor St address.

Police were responding to a report of a man who had allegedly informed another man at the facility that he was armed before leaving the scene.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the medical facility was sent into lockdown for a short period of time while police conducted a search of the area.

No persons were located and police are continuing their investigations into the alleged incident.

A Darling Downs Health Service spokesperson said the safety of staff and patients is a top priority and is why staff worked quickly to resolve the incident with the help of Queensland Police.

Stanthorpe Hospital remains open to anyone who needs urgent care.
