THERE are so many truly remarkable people in the South Burnett.

Each and every one of us has a lifetime of achievements, thoughts, beliefs and lessons learned.

The Q&A feature is an opportunity to showcase some of the exceptional people in our proud region.

This week, we hear from Lives Lived Well South West Queensland clinical services manager James Curtain.

1. What is something you really resent paying for?

Poor service. Some of the bigger chain stores tend to take people for granted and they get away with it. Small towns rely on good service.

2. What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Life is what you make of it.

3. What do you do to relax?

Watch MotoGP and UFC.

4. What is one thing you would struggle to quit?

Caffeine.

5. What do you wish you knew when you were younger?

How fast your kids grow up.

6. What is the worst injury you’ve had and how did it happen?

About three years ago, a horse ran over me and broke my collarbone. One of our stallions got a bit upset and came galloping over the top of me. I was in Brisbane Hospital for a week. It could have killed me.

7. What would your friends say is your worst habit?

Not sleeping. I tend to try and catch up with people during the night or send emails during the night and then I am probably not there during the day when I am expected to be. I’ve always got a lot going on.

8. What is the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?

A young woman lost her whole family in a car crash, and she gave me a card for helping her in hospital afterwards. I was just doing my job and couldn’t believe her thoughtfulness.

9. If you could write a new law, what would it be?

Minimum speed limits on highways. I am in Brisbane every week and I see a lot of close calls on that highway. A lot of them are because drivers are going too slow.

10. What do you do when you have 30 minutes free?

Find something to read.
