From driving mistakes and drug use, to attacking family members, here are some badly behaved parents and their crimes.

FROM “stupid” driving mistakes and relying on drugs to attacking family members, here are nine of the South Burnett’s most notorious mums and dads to appear in court this year.

‘Very stupid or couldn’t care less’: Dad cops $1550 fine

A “STUPID” decision to drive his car around the block after trying to fix it landed a 28-year-old single father in court.

John Luke Hoghes faced Kingaroy Magistrates Court in July charged with driving his unregistered, uninsured and defective Holden sedan on Youngman St while his licence was suspended at 10.45am on March 10, 2019.

Defence lawyer Chris Campbell said Hoghes recognised he had made a “very stupid decision to drive the vehicle”.

‘She said she was going to fight us’: Mum attacks daughter

A ‘PROBLEM’ teenager was left sobbing after her mother punched her and pulled her hair while she waited for an ambulance.

The 37-year-old Cherbourg woman pleaded guilty to a domestic violence charge of assault occasioning bodily harm in Murgon Magistrates Court on April 30.

Magistrate Louisa Pink said it was shocking conduct for a mother.

“You are the adult, she is the child and you are the one who is responsible for her wellbeing,” Ms Pink said.

“She gets into her bed with her little sister sobbing, that paints a very sad story.”

Man breaches order to be a ‘good dad’ to his kids

A SOUTH Burnett man disregarded his domestic violence order in order to be a “good dad” to his kids.

The 26-year-old man breached the order by visiting his kids and playing with them at the home of his former partner in Murgon on September 20.

While there were no allegations of violence, foul words or arguments, police prosecutor Pepe Gangemi said it was not a simple technical breach due to the man’s history with the aggrieved.

Mum instructs L-Plater son while they’re both on drugs

A WOMAN pleaded guilty to a drug charge after she was nabbed by police instructing her L-plater son, who also pleaded guilty to being under the influence of drugs.

On June 24 at 5.45pm, Deborah Rose Petith was teaching her learner driver son, Jaden Ronald Petith.

Police officers drug-tested the pair, who were in a Ford wagon, on Alford St, Kingaroy.

Mother seeks refuge after being threatened with knife

SHE was shaking, sweating, crying and hidden under clothing on the bottom of a wardrobe when police officers finally found her.

The officers took several minutes to coax the frightened woman, whom they described as hysterical, out of the wardrobe on February 27, 2019.

The father of her four children pleaded guilty to seven charges in Murgon Magistrates Court on April 30, including assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed in company, as a domestic violence offence.

Mum lashes out after hearing woman talk about her kids

WHEN a Cherbourg mother heard another woman talking about her children, she punched her in the eye and broke her tooth.

Magistrate Louisa Pink questioned the example Revina Shanade Alica Landers was setting for her children when she appeared in Murgon Magistrates Court on October 15 charged with assault occasioning bodily harm while intoxicated.

“What are they going to learn seeing their mother brawling on the street?” Ms Pink questioned.

“What they see, you might think is OK but I tell you the courts do not accept it.”

‘It will destroy your life’: Young dad’s wake-up call

“IF YOU do not stop the course you’re on, it will destroy your life and your young family’s life.”

This is the warning the Kingaroy magistrate had for Tyron Jade Bellerby, who faced court on two drug charges in July.

On February 7, police officers performed a search warrant and found two points of meth and two straws that had been used in the consumption of meth.

No contact with kids fuels outburst

WHEN a phone conversation turned sour with his ex-partner, a Kingaroy man punched a hole in the bathroom door and lounge room wall of the home he rented with his mother.

While his mother was not injured during the incident at their Kingaroy home at 10pm on June 10, the man faced Kingaroy Magistrates Court charged with contravening a domestic violence order against her.

Defence lawyer Chris Campbell said not seeing his children for several months after his ex-partner moved away was the driving force behind his anger.

‘Do something about it’: Father challenged to stop violence

A JUDGE has challenged a father, facing court for strangling his former partner, to “be better” and remove violence from his children’s lives.

The 35-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was told by Judge Glen Cash it was now up to him.

“If you want to be a good father to them, set a good example,” he said.

“If you want to avoid your own children growing up with offences, don’t set the example that you had set for you by your parents.”
