'Regionally in Queensland' there is a 'juvenile crime wave'

A South Burnett teenager accused of punching a woman in the face and robbing her in a violent attack at Kingaroy now faces a stack of fresh break-in and stealing charges.

Police claim the 16-year-old Cherbourg boy committed a string of offences across towns in the Burnett and Gympie regions between February 6 and 10.

The boy allegedly forced entry to a home in Lister Court at Kingaroy and stole a swag of items, including a wallet and jewellery, as well as the keys to a Mazda 3 parked outside the property.

Police say the vehicle with the registration plate 626YOJ is still missing.

It was only a few days later that the teenager allegedly broke into a business on Bligh St, Kilkivan by smashing the front glass door.

No property was reported stolen on this occasion.

Police claim it was later that same night the boy broke into a house on Hodge St in Goomeri, pocketing two sets of car keys and using them to steal the corresponding vehicles parked outside.

He also allegedly targeted a business along the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy and stole alcohol in the hours leading up to the reported robbery at a woman’s Kingaroy home.

The Cherbourg boy was allegedly one in a group that smashed their way into a Moffatdale tourist park with an axe and took off with food and the cash register.

Police will allege he then stole fuel from a Murgon petrol station and returned a short while later to steal more fuel with a different car.

The 16-year-old also allegedly stole money from a Mackenzie St business in Wondai.

He now faces three charges each of entering a premises by break and committing an indictable offence and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is also charged with a further one count each of burglary and committing an indictable offence, attempting to enter a premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, robbery with violence in company, and stealing.

The boy was released on bail and is due to appear in Murgon Children’s Court in the near future.
