NAPLAN: How our schools have improved in five years

An analysis of the South Burnett schools that have improved their NAPLAN results the most in the last five years.

THESE are the South Burnett schools that have improved their NAPLAN results the most in the last five years.

An analysis of five years' worth of NAPLAN results has revealed the schools that have improved their Year 5 and Year 9 student scores the most.

The South Burnett school that improved their Year 5 results the most between 2015 and 2019 was Yarraman State School, in Yarraman, where the average results across all subjects improved by 12.9 per cent.

Average Year 9 results at Yarraman State School, in Yarraman, increased by 2.8 per cent, the biggest improvement in South Burnett.

The analysis compared each school's combined results for each NAPLAN subject in 2015 and compared to the same results in 2019.

South Burnett's second biggest improvement in Year 5 results over those five years was Proston State School, in Proston, where scores increased 9.1 per cent.

The third biggest Year 5 improver was Kilkivan State School, in Kilkivan, where results increased 2.7 per cent over the five-year period.

The South Burnett school with the second biggest Year 9 improvement between 2015 and 2019 was Nanango State High School, in Nanango, where results improved 2.1 per cent.

Average results at Murgon State High School, in Murgon, increased by 2.1 per cent, the third highest increase in the South Burnett.

Yarraman State School has been contacted for comment, and have not responded.

South Burnett's 10 Year 5 NAPLAN improvers over five years:

Yarraman State School: 12.9 per cent

Proston State School: 9.1 per cent

Kilkivan State School: 2.7 per cent

Murgon State School: 1.2 per cent

Kumbia State School: 1.0 per cent

Kingaroy State School: 0.3 per cent

St John's Lutheran School: -1.1 per cent

Nanango State School: -1.5 per cent

Tanduringie State School: -1.9 per cent

Cherbourg State School: -2.2 per cent

Saint Mary's Catholic College: 1.7 per cent

Proston State School: 1.5 per cent

Kingaroy State High School: -2.0 per cent

Kilkivan State School: -3.8 per cent

St John's Lutheran School: -4.7 per cent

Wondai State School: -12.3 per cent
