HOW much does a name affect a business?
The proud new Murgon business owners at Big Sausage Fest are hoping their unique name has tongues wagging and lips smacking.
Ashley Mollenhauer and Ryan Bezuidenhout have been busy behind the closed doors of their new fast-food store, next to Murgon's Supa IGA preparing their gourmet hot dogs, international sausages and soft serve ice-cream.
The unusual name conjures up many thoughts, but Ashley said she was sure it would be a winner.
"I love the name," she said.
"I just get embarrassed when we set up our bank accounts and things like that."
Ashley said she was experiencing equal amounts of nervousness and excitement before the grand opening on Monday, August 19.
"The feedback we have gotten is that everyone is very excited," she said.
"There are people who will knock on the door and ask to have a look and ask what we are doing."
Originally from Zimbabwe, Ryan moved to Australia following his trade and he met Ashley when they worked together in Gladstone, nearly five years ago.
The business-minded couple moved back to Murgon recently to return to Ashley's home town.
They both bring their specialised skills to the party and they seem to be a good business combination.
Ryan has experience in management and Ashley has a chef apprenticeship.
They thought the main challenge early on would likely be communication.
"We communicate well, just have different styles," Ms Mollenhauer said.
