An empty lot in Kingaroy looks set to be developed into a new motel, according to planning documents signed off by the council.
The application, submitted on behalf of Russell Carracher by ONF Surveyors, for 14 one-bedroom units described as “short term accommodation” was recently approved.
The two-storey structure at I Hodge St will have eight units on the bottom floor along with a further six units on the upper floor and a reception area attached to the main structure.
There are also plans for 14 car park spaces along with a water pumping station.
Mr Carracher is also the owner of Pepper Tree Cabins which is situated around the corner on Evelyn St.
The “cabin park” contains 32 self-contained luxury cabins.
The Kingaroy Holiday Park, Kingaroy Caravan Park and Motel Oasis are all located within the same vicinity.
No date has been made public as to when construction might start on the new development.
