New business group ditches formality for relaxed atmosphere

RUNNING a small business can be a tough gig.

Running a small business in a small country town can be even tougher.

So if you are feeling the pressure of running a small business, it can be comforting to know there are other people in the same boat paddling just as hard.

The Wondai business community will be strengthened after the recent introduction of the Wondai Business Networking Group.

South Burnett Regional councillor Ros Heit was one of the people instrumental in getting the region's newest business group off the ground.

She said the group offered a point of difference from others of its kind as it had a relaxed atmosphere and was less structured.

The networking group will meet regularly at various Wondai businesses, but there will be no memberships or fees to join the group.

"This has all the benefits without the downside,” Cr Heit said.

She said she was happy with the first meeting and believed the group would only go from strength to strength.

"I was really excited with the energy in the room,” she said.

"They are all very enthusiastic.”

Proactive Wondai businesswoman Elaine Raffin is another passionate resident keen to see the group grow.

"We want to inject life into our community,” Ms Raffin said.

"The goal of the group is to optimise our networking connections and share knowledge and experiences, and attract new people to settle in our area.”

The next Wondai Business Networking meeting will be on Friday, November 8 at 5.30pm.

It will be held at Wondai Electrical Services, 10 Bunya Ave, Wondai.
