AFTER having to navigate the unexpected earlier this year, Nigel Squibb and John Whitley learned some hard business lessons.

In May they were forced to cancel the Maidenwell Music Muster on the morning of the festival due to unforeseen conditions of extreme wind bursts.

Next week, the two South Burnett businessmen will be sharing their experiences at the South Burnett Business Breakfast aimed at connecting professionals in the region.

Ahead of the local event on Wednesday October 23, Nigel Squibb said they were already in the planning stages for next year's music muster.

"The insurance company and Australian Concerts Productions deemed the muster as being unsafe," Mr Sqiubb said.

"We didn't call it off to do a runner with the money.

"We have chosen to live and work in the South Burnett and make it our home.

"What happened happened, but we can only look forward to next year," he said.

With years of experience in organising events in locations across the world such as the United States and Dubai, Mr Squibb said there was one major thing he hoped for ahead of next year's muster.

"As part of our various businesses, such as The Sauce Man and the muster, we do a lot of travelling.

"We will continue to be based out of the South Burnett as there's a lot of amazing things happening here.

"We are hoping to continue to receive the support from the local community and provide an event that draws in a great crowd," he said.

Hosted by South Burnett Times journalist and radio presenter Matt Collins, other guest speakers include Jacqui Trace from Bill Hull Car Centre and Chris 'Corky' Corcoran from 90.7 Crow FM.

Running a successful not-for-profit, putting the customer first and staying ahead of the pack will be some of the topics covered at the business breakfast.

Held at the Nanago RSL, it is $20 for a ticket, which includes breakfast from 6.30-7am with the speakers to follow, bookings are recommended at 0741631375.
