An inspirational businesswoman has transformed her passion for creativity and counselling into a unique haven for healing.
Kingaroy mother Amanda Jensen went back to university after raising five children to study counselling, where she developed her business Abundant Creativity.
The 53-year-old serves South Burnett residents who struggle with anxiety, communicating, schizophrenia, bipolar, autism and blindness through her innovative approach to creative therapy sessions.
Her new studio at Bright Street in Nanango offers a variety of creative activities such as pottery making, mosaics, painting and macramé.
“My approach is client-led and relaxed, as I am not an art teacher but rather focus on therapeutic benefits,” Mrs Jensen said.
“The best part of my job is meeting incredible people and providing a supportive environment for them to get creative with no pressure, in a space where they feel welcome,” she said.
Mrs Jensen said she aimed to make her client’s lives more manageable and to provide a respite from their challenges.
“I‘ve got a few clients who have very complicated medical or mental issues and when they ask me to hang up their work it’s the most rewarding feeling.”
Abundant Creativity also offers event packages for special events including hens and birthdays.
“We have fantastic nights of paint and sips, mosaics, pottery and more,” Mrs Jensen said.
“There is something for everyone from 6 to 106 years old.
“We have ladies who come in big groups for paint and sip evenings where they bring their own alcohol and I provide the nibbles,” she said.
Mrs Jensen said she aspires to have a studio assistant within the next year and expand her business.
“I am working towards offering online creative therapy alternatives as I want to make creative therapies accessible to more people, especially those who can't visit the studio in person,” Mrs Jensen said.

“I plan to offer courses and online paint parties.
“Creative therapies are for everyone, regardless of their ability or background,” she said.
