Severe thunderstorms are forecast for parts of Queensland on Wednesday, but are not expected to impact flood-affected areas as waters recede.
Helen Reid from the Bureau of Meteorology said there was a chance of severe thunderstorms in the western part of the state, as well as showers on the coast.
“Showers are possible about coastal areas with easterly winds pushing on shore, however no significant falls are expected,” she said.
“Thunderstorms are possible again about southwest Queensland,
“Severe thunderstorms are possible in these areas with the risk of heavy rainfall, but this is not expected to fall across flood affected areas.”
Ms Reid added that while a number of flood warnings remain active, several have been downgraded.
“As of Wednesday morning, flood waters continue to recede,” she said.
“Warnings are still current in Queensland for major flooding on the Warrill Creek, minor to moderate flooding on the Logan River, as well as minor flooding on the Bremer and Albert rivers.”
