STORM season is well and truly upon us, and while the region is unlikely to see a weather event like the horrific storms which ripped through Chinchilla and Nanango yesterday, there is a chance of some decent rain in the coming days.

In the Maranoa at large, rain has already been rolling through east of Roma and in to town.

The Bureau of Meterology is keeping an eye on the area for rain and storm activity as part of an upper level trough.

There is no wild weather to warrant a warning as of yet, but residents on the eastern side of the Maranoa/Warrego Region are being asked to keep an eye on possible warnings through the afternoon and evening.

Moving in to next week, showers can be expected on over the weekend, but the Bureau said the best chance of rain has been today.

Further west in Charleville, cloudy skies are the order of the day with no more than a possible late shower early next week.

The climate in the Murweh region is looking far more stable at the moment, keeping things dry but cloudy, with only a slight chance of a shower tomorrow.

As another trough begins to develop and establish itself next week, the Western Districts might see some of it before the system pushes east.

St George and the Balonne region have a higher chance of seeing showers today and on Saturday, with conditions looking very similar to the Maranoa.

The Bureau has said showers are headed in their direction right now, and an afternoon storm is a possibility considering today's unstable weather system.

However, Sunday and Monday are expected to be dry, and the possibility of a shower won't increase again in St George until Monday.
