Time for free safety inspections

POOL owners in the Maranoa region have been able to book a free safety inspection this month, and with the program hitting the halfway mark this week, the council is reminding residents to take advantage.
The free pool safety inspection scheme will end on January 31, and all kinds of swimming pools being eligible, including spas and certain types of portable pools.
Councillor Wendy Newman, portfolio chair for Planning and Building, said pool safety and regular inspections were essential for pool owners.
"Appropriate precautionary measures, such as a pool safety inspection ,should be taken to avoid possible pool dangers,” Cr Newman said.
An inspection from Maranoa Regional Council usually costs $280 and an optional Pool Safety Certificate of Compliance costs an additional $38 (State Government fee) will remain payable after the inspection.
