STORM WARNING: Roma, Injune and Taroom

A severe thunderstorm is likely to develop this afternoon, affecting parts of the Maranoa including Roma and Injune.

SEVERE thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall are likely in the Maranoa region this afternoon, the Bureau of Meteorology warns.

The system is predicted to affect Roma and Injune in the Maranoa and Warrego forecast district, as well as Taroom in the Central Highlands district.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:

  • Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters: if it's flooded, forget it.
  • Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
  • Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
  • Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
  • For emergency assistance, contact the SES on 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 2.40pm.
