ROMA'S 10th annual eisteddfod has started with a bang.

Hundreds of students from in and around Roma have dazzled and delighted audiences at the Cultural Centre over two days and nights, with the last few sections set to close the showcase of talent in style today.

This year, entrants participated in 63 sections, celebrating the vocal and instrumental talents of schoolchildren from Kindergarten to Year 12, with additional sections open for all.

Special adjudicator Helen Smith, an Australian Music Examinations Board instructor, was impressed at the talent on show.

"I'm giving out three highly commended awards, not because I'm being nice, but because all these kids did such a great job,” she said.

Don Roberts is a longtime volunteer at the eisteddfod and said he was delighted with the talent this year.

"I've watched some of these kids perform over the last seven years, and they just improve every year,” he said.

Organiser Carmel Treasure said this year's event had been a success. "The kids have been great.”
