After listening to the community’s feedback, Woolworths Roma has taken the opportunity to stock local, family-owned bread from Bakearoma.

Tony Marris, Store Manager of Woolworths Roma, said the supermarket is committed to working with local Australian suppliers wherever they can.

“Late last year, the Roma community asked for Bakearoma’s bread to be available in their local Woolworths store and we saw an opportunity to support an iconic local business,” Mr Marris said.

“We’re pleased to see Roma locals so passionate about Bakearoma bread, supplied by a family-owned bakery that has been serving the community for many years.”

Owner of Bakearoma Robert Nugent said his bread was officially on Woolies shelves early February this year and the popularity and sell through of stock has been nothing but positive so far.

“We are proud to be working closely with Woolworths and excited to see our bread range being stocked in store well into the future,” Mr Nugent said.

Similarly, Mr Marris said the feedback he has received as been “incredibly positive” so far.

“With the bread jumping off shelves from the first day of sale,” he said.

“It’s great to be giving our customers more options from the local community in store.”
