RYAN Lawton Hand wanted payback after his wife was hit by a gel blaster, and trespassed onto the alleged cuprite’s property.

But this encounter landed Hand in court.

He was originally charged with enter dwelling with intent, but that was changed to trespass and he pleaded guilty.

Hand also pleaded guilty to common assault.

Police prosecutor sergeant Caroline Boodnikoff told the court Hand drove to a Hood Street address and jumped over the fence on July 30.

Hand had a dispute with the victim’s partner and yelled to her, ‘who is inside?’

The victim told him to leave, and Hand brushed past her while yelling out to her partner.

Solicitor Frank Jongkind said Hand has no history of violence and the common assault was on the ‘lowest end’ of the scale.

“The way this came about, Your Honour, was that Mr Hand’s wife was shot at by a gel gun by the partner of the complainant,” Mr Jongkind said.

Magistrate Peter Saggers said there’s always a risk when people take the law into their own hands.

“It could have made circumstances worse, if [the victim] fell,” Magistrate Saggers said.

“There is another way to go about it lawfully and that’s the way you should take.”

Hand was fined $500 and the conviction was recorded.
