Drugs, guns, evading police: Maranoa weekend crime wrap

Unlawful firearms have been uncovered, drugs charges laid, and officers are investigating a hooning motorcyclist who escaped the police at high speed.

Bonus drugs charges from routine house call

OFFICERS found more than they bargained for while on the job at a Foott St home on Thursday, April 30.

When attending the address to investigate another matter, they found drug utensils belonging to a 37 year old Roma man.

He was charged with possession of a drug utensil, and issued with a notice to appear in Roma Magistrates Court on July 7.

 

Drink driving charges in Mitchell

AN ALLEGEDLY intoxicated driver has been caught in the act by Mitchell police, in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

Officers intercepted a vehicle on the Warrego Highway at 12.15am on May 2, charging the person behind the wheel with drink driving.

They are due to face Mitchell Magistrates Court on June 8.

 

Search turns up an illegal gun

INVESTIGATIONS at a property near Injune have ended with firearms charges for a 37 year old man.

Police attended the property on Friday, May 2 for other matters when a gun was discovered, and the man was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

He was issued a notice to appear in Roma Magistrates Court on June 10.

 

Dangerous motorbike rider on the loose

A HOONING motorcyclist who evaded police is under investigation.

On Friday night about 9.15pm, Roma Road Policing Unit was responding to a public complaint about hooning, when they located a rider in orange hi-visibility clothing on a silver Suzuki SV1000 on Cottell St.

Upon noticing the police, the rider turned on to Bowen St and sped away at about 120km/h.

The Road Policing Unit is appealing to the public for any information which could identify the motorcyclist, and urge them to call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or speak with Roma Police.
