Elderly woman busted for texting
A 76-year-old woman from Jackson has been given an infringement notice for allegedly using her mobile phone on Quintin St on December 8.
Roma Police constable Guy Phillips is urging people to stay safe in light of this incident.
“Police would like to urge everyone not to use their phones while driving as they’re a fatal distraction,” constable Phillips said.
Man to face court for drink driving
A 34-year-old Roma man hopped behind the wheel while allegedly under the influence of a little too much alcohol on December 10.
Constable Phillips said the driver was intercepted by police on Bungil Street.
“Police urge people not to be tempted to drink drive and would ask that people make other arrangements such as getting a designated driver, get a taxi...” he said.
The man will face the Roma Magistrates Court for a low range drink driving charge on January 19, 2021.
