Andrrew Peter Webber pleads guilty in Roma Magistrates Court to wilful damage

A 50-year-old father who drove through someone’s front yard fence and ravaged the inside of their home has come before court. Here’s all the details.

A 50-year-old father has blamed withdrawal symptoms from his antidepressant medication for his destructive rampage at a Roma address.

Andrrew Peter Webber pleaded guilty in Roma Magistrates Court to wilful damage.

Police prosecutions said Webber had gone to the residence and driven the vehicle through the front fence of the property before going inside and damaging the air conditioning unit, a vase and electronic tablet.

Defence lawyer Lee Quinn said the father-of-four was very remorseful for his behaviour and was looking forward to moving forward with his life.

“This has been a life lesson for him,” he said.

“He has suffered from depression for 25 years and had not taken his medication for four to five days.

“His doctor spoke in a letter about withdrawl systems causing agitation and restlessness.”

Magistrate Shane Elliott said it would have been disappointing for the aggrieved and witnesses to see someone with very little criminal history commit such an offence, and described Webber as a “person of otherwise good character”.

Webber was handed a $750 fine and no conviction was recorded.
