WHILE she never expected to win the crown of Roma Miss Showgirl, Remi Cowan is excited with the potential for education her new title brings.

"I want to educate people on the coast about what's happening out here," she said.

"As a student at school we had no idea, we weren't taught about any of what goes on out in the bush, so I think this is going to be a great opportunity to do stuff with that."

Miss Cowan said she was looking forward to the opportunities Miss Showgirl were set to bring her.

"I think it is a great opportunity to get the younger generation involved with a fresher idea on things," she said.

"I work with the younger generation, and I think it will be a great opportunity to get more of them involved.

A senior educator in the senior toddler room at Good Start Early Learning , Miss Cowan said she was constantly inspired by the possibilities her job allowed her.

"I get to mould these little people to be better citizens of the community," she said.

Born in Beaudesert, Miss Cowan grew up in Rockhampton, but admits Roma was an eye opener when she made the move two years ago.

"I've never been quite this rural," she said.

"Beaudesert and Rockhampton are nothing at all like what Roma is."

In a Roma Show first, Sarah Packer was crowned the inaugural Rural Ambassador, with the Top X live stock agent and auctioneer saying she was inspired to join the program because of her a passion for her community.

"I'm really driven by the lack of knowledge out there," she said.

"People are making pretty outrageous comments on topics that aren't relevant to them.

"It is nice to have a voice, and it (Rural Ambassador) is a really good opportunity to have another face and another voice to push our agenda.

"The rural community is pretty important, and one more voice is another voice."

This year also saw six Miss Princess Showgirl entrants, and three Miss Junior Showgirls.
