TAYLA Dennis, Debbie Joppich and Leanne Crawford have successfully transformed Roma's Big Rig into an award-winning experience for its 19,000 annual visitors.

The local tourist spot has picked up two gongs this week - a Best of Queensland Experience award from Tourism and Events Queensland, and a 2019 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor - which are a testament to the entire team at the Big Rig

"Our council tourism team is doing a fantastic job down at the Big Rig, and have been making small changes," portfolio chair for tourism Councillor Puddy Chandler said.

"The introduction of the of the Oil Patch tour was done really well, and the sunset experience has been amazing too.

"People want to have an experience, and it is what they are delivering."

To receive the TripAdvisor award, a tourist attraction needs to earn consistently high-rating reviews.

"It is fantastic to have that result on TripAdvisor, because they are the largest travel site in the world," Cr Chandler said.

"Last year we got the same award for the saleyards and everybody across Australia knows that, if you go to Roma, you need to go to the saleyards.

"That is the exciting thing about the award: everyone who comes to Roma will want to call in to the Big Rig and see what's going on."

Being named a Best of Queensland Experience will also boost the Big Rig through their newly awarded status with TEQ.
