SEPARATE incidences of drink driving overnight have led to the arrest of two people in the Maranoa.

Between 10 and 10.30pm on Friday, December 28, a 26-year-old Roma man was apprehended by police for reckless driving.

The vehicle, which was being driven at speed, mounted the gutter on Bowen St before police stopped the driver for a breathalyser test where he blew 0.189.

He was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle and driving under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested.

The driver was also issued with a notice to appear in court on January 22.

In Mitchell, a 21-year-old woman saw stopped by police after they observed a Ford Falcon driving in a reckless manner on Cambridge Ln at 11.57pm.

A breath test returned a result of 0.157 and the driver was arrested.

She was also issued a notice to appear in court.

December 28 marked day six of the state's Christmas Road Safety Campaign, and police arrested nine drunk drivers across the state.

45 drivers also returned positive roadside drug testing results, 20 people were injured in traffic crashes, and police detected more than 3,300 speeding motorists.

21 people decided they wanted to risk their lives by not wearing a seatbelt, 22 were caught using their mobile phones behind the wheel, and another 409 traffic infringement notices were also issued yesterday.
