A DISUSED sawmill west of Injune was in the path of a long-burning vegetation fire on Womblebank Gap Rd, which kept fire crews busy for more than three hours on Sunday afternoon.

Arriving on the scene at 3.15pm, firefighters worked to contain the fire, which had been burning since 1.30pm on the same day.

Updating locals later in the evening, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service was able to confirm the fire was no longer posing a threat to the abandoned structure by 6.50pm.

Paramedics were called to the scene at around 3.50pm to treat one person for smoke inhalation, but transfer to hospital was not required and paramedics remained on standby.

However, with smoke still affecting the area, residents of Injune were advised to take precautions - particularly those with respiratory conditions.

The advice was still in effect as of 7.25pm, with an update that the fire would continue to burn for several days.

QFES and landowners on Womblebank Gap Rd have continued to monitor the blaze, which was still burning near a number of log piles at the scene.

While the scene is still under watch, it is recommended that people close their doors and windows, and keep medications close by if they have a respiratory condition.
