MOTOCROSS: This weekend will mark the official opening of the Roma District Motorcycle Club's newly upgraded facility, celebrated with a special ceremony on Sunday.

The club received a grant from the Queensland Government's Gambling Community Benefit Fundlast year and the project has been in the works since.

With the fund money, club members spent about $22,000 upgrading the track at Ironbark Raceway and building a machinery shed as a place for members to work on their bikes.

Local business DMAC provided all the earthworks for the mammoth project, while a machinery shed was built by Roma's Six Mile Building and a host of other local businesses helped get everything up and running again with their sponsorship.

The motorcycle club will be throwing a party fit to celebrate their new track, starting with a formal ribboncutting, to be attended by Mayor Tyson Golder and councillor Geoff McMullen.

As well as the ceremony there will be a cake cutting and, of course, a full day of racing on the brand-new track.
