DIRRANBANDI residents are in for a treat this weekend, with a good old fashioned Rock & Roll dance organised for this Saturday.
Local musician Phillip Stacey, part of Soul Agents, has organised five hours of fine-fashioned 50s and 60s fun, featuring covers of Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, and all the greats.
Organised as a drought initiative, all proceeds raised will go directly to the local Dirranbandi QCWA branch, who will distribute the money among local residents and farmers.
Phillip Stacey on guitar and vocals will play alongside Niah Hadenfeld on the saxophone as The Soul Agents.
"We're just trying to put some pennies back in the coffers,” Mr Stacey said.
"It's a drought initiative that the community has come together to organise.
"We hope that this will help people out.
"The CWA will distribute the money where they think it needs to go.”
Tickets will be sold for $10 at the door, with food and drinks available on the night.
"We just want people to come and have some fun.”
A family friendly event, there will be prizes for the best Elvis impersonator, best jiving couple, and couple with the best period dress.
