A CUSTOMARY early start on Saturday saw Roma's dedicated band of park-runners meet for their final five kilometres of 2018.

Even at the final run, newcomers Natasha Swan, Anne Grainger, Belinda Emery and Hailey Brown were welcomed, while Abby White and Rubie Emery capped off 2018 with new personal bests.

"This year has been great, we've had big numbers in most weeks, with 30 to 40 people coming along.

"We're very happy with that, it's really good for Roma.

"Some people have been going well in achieving personal bests, but it's also just good to get out and enjoy the community side of it too,” she said.

Over the year, Parkrun has seen a diverse turnout in Roma, with all ages and fitness levels having a crack at the course said Ms Wichalz.

"We've got young people, families, and older people who join in.

"We have participants come along to walk the course, or jog, it doesn't matter.

"Some push a pram or bring the dog, and there are plenty who just come for the little community we have here and everyone enjoys their run, she said.

Now that the group has enjoyed their last run for 2018, their next celebration will be a birthday party for their little community.

"We've been running for four years in Roma, soon to be five when we celebrate our anniversary in May,” Ms Wichalz said.
