SWIMMING: Swimmers from the southwest region travelled to Roma over the weekend to compete in the Roma and District Open Swimming Carnival.
The event took place at the Denise Spencer Memorial Pool, providing a spectacle of racing from all age groups.
Roma club president Stacey Robertson said the carnival was a great turnout, with around 120 competitors racing on the day.
"We had clubs from Charleville, St George, Toowoomba, Wallumbilla, Warwick and Roma,” she said.
"The event was
the annual Roma All
Stars Swimming Club carnival.
"Age champion trophies were awarded to the boy and girl who achieved the highest points in their group.”
Robertson said the Roma All Stars Swimming Club had more than 40 swimmers involved.
"All the kids swam really well,” she said.
"The kids from the Darling Downs Regional Swimming Association came out to do the timing for the event, and they commented on how professional all the kids were.
"It was a great performance from everyone.”
Robertson said the Roma carnival was the first meet on the racing calendar for the 2018-19 season.
"The kids have only been in the pool since August, so it was great to see them starting the season off strong,” she said.
This weekend the kids will head off to the Chinchilla carnival at the Chinchilla Swimming and Fitness Centre, with races starting from 9am onwards.
