Vehicle washed into creek in Central QLD

A viral video of a vehicle crossing a creek in a Central Queensland national park shows the moment the driver lost the battle against flood waters.

The video has been posted on Facebook with a screenshot of details about Queensland Fire and Emergency Services being tasked to Waterpark Creek at Weerriba in the Byfield National Park on Saturday.

A QFES spokeswoman said Queensland Police Service called QFES for assistance with four crews dispatched, but they were turned around before reaching the scene.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said police were called at 5.41pm about a vehicle in floodwaters at the creek.

He said the vehicle had been swept down the creek a short distance when the male driver was able to exit and make it to shore.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said QAS transported a male in his 20s with minor injuries to the Capricorn Coast Hospital in Yeppoon after being called to Sandy Creek Road at 5.20pm.

The QPS spokesman said the vehicle was left in the creek.
