Central Queensland’s Australian Idol superstars are edging closer and closer to grand final glory as both make it through to the top six.
Emu Park’s Trent Richardson and Rockhampton’s Denvah Baker-Moller have gained the support of their hometowns and the country - but their journey isn’t over yet.
This week both Trent and Denvah took to the stage to continue to compete for their spot in the Grand Final in just two weeks.
Kicking off the week Denvah took the stage on Sunday night to perform the classic Beach Boys song God Only Knows.
During the montage before her performance clips of Rockhampton businesses and fans getting behind Denvah were shown.
“Growing up in Rocky was so cool, I was very blessed to grow up in such a supportive little area of the world,” she said.
A video message from a teacher and students of Denvah’s previous school, Heights College, revealed to her she would be singing the classic song.
Denvah admitted she was “nervous” to sing the song because of its vulnerability.
But she made it her own, taking to the stage with her guitar to perform her rendition, earning cheers from the crowd.
Judge Kyle Sandilands said while Denvah did a good job of the song, he thought the voters “picked a stinker” for her.
“You’re better than that, I think you did a great job of it, but I just think they picked a stinker for you, just not my cup of tea for you,” he said.
“I just hope you don’t get swallowed up, because at this stage of the contest you need to stand out.”
Meanwhile heart throb Trent took on one of the biggest track by Aussie boy band 5 Seconds of Summer, She Looks So Perfect on Sunday night.
Trent received the news of his song choice while contestants attended the AFL Season Launch event and dedicated the song to “the girls”.
Idol judge Amy Shark said while Trent didn’t have the strongest voice in the competition, he did have the strongest look.
“We’ve said it before you don’t have a show-stopping voice, but neither do I, so we actually have a little bit in common you and I,” she said.
“So when you don’t have a voice like Amy or Ivana, or these big voices you kind of need to lean on things like good songs, personality and a look... I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve read ‘we’re so sick of you hair Amy, we don’t like your hair, we’re sick of it’ and it makes me laugh because a style and a brand is so important.
“I’m telling you, you have the strongest look on this show... my phone was just blowing up with people at the footy saying, ‘hey, I think the cowboy is here!”
While previously the songs were chosen by the judges, the songs performed on Sunday were chosen by the public.
On Monday night, Denvah was placed in the bottom four, but after a performance of James Bay’s Hold Back the River, she dodged elimination.
Trent was placed in the top four of the night and was safe from the risk of elimination.
Both Trent and Denvah will take to the stage again Sunday night.
