The latest severe weather warning for Central Queensland shows “quite active and severe weather” is predicted for many parts on Wednesday night.
Speaking about the warning which was relevant for the Central Highlands, the Coalfields and Capricornia, Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Angus Hines said Rockhampton to the southwest of the Beef Capital was in the area likely to get a severe thunderstorm while Emerald and the surrounding areas were still in the “possible” zone.
Mr Hines said the former areas were most likely to experience heavy rainfall leading to flooding.
In one of the warnings issued on Wednesday, the region was warned to expect hail as large as 5cm after reports of hail as large as 7cm were observed at Injune.
