Rockhampton girls, boys teams out to make their mark at state championships

Rockhampton is keen to make its mark on court and you can watch the action live.

Rockhampton basketballers will be looking to put their best foot forward at the Queensland under-18 championships this week.

Rockhampton Basketball manager Wade Rebetzke, who is coaching the girls side, is confident of strong showings from both the boys and girls teams.

The Morning Bulletin will livestream games, and you can catch the Rockhampton Cyclones in action against the Gold Coast Rollers at 11am on Wednesday.

“For us, it’s more about going and competing and putting up good performances,” Rebetzke said.

“Obviously the teams are looking to do as well as possible, and both teams are playing in Division 1 which is a good effort.

“On the girls side, we’re a lot younger than a lot of the other teams and on the boys side we’re looking for them to go down and cause a few upsets.

“In the boys, Ben Tweedy, Mitchell Kuhl and Solomon Watene, three kids who were training with the Rockhampton Rockets last year, will be three of the major contributors.

“With the girls, we will be looking for contributions across the court but again the girls involved in the Cyclones system - Kate Greany, Eli Walsh and Bella Janes - will play a big part.”
