Nikki Carpenter’s wish has been granted.
The Capras coach was, at the end of the inaugural under-17 girls season this year, left to lament that her team did not get to play more than three games.
Come 2025 they will.
The competition has been expanded and each team will play six fixtures, with a four-game finals series also introduced.
“When I saw the draw for 2025, I was blown away,” Carpenter said.
“It’s really exciting that in one year, it’s grown that way.
“We’ll be running just as long as the under-19 girls.”
Carpenter is also buoyed by the talent she will have at her disposal for the 2025 campaign.
She has just named a 35-strong training squad, which will be whittled down further in the New Year before the season kicks off on the weekend of February 15-16.

About 70 girls turned out for the trials at Yeppoon on November 16, leaving the Carpenter with a welcome selection headache.
“I was very impressed to see so many players there,” she said.
“It was more than we had last year so any growth like that in the women’s game is amazing.”
Carpenter said there was plenty of competition for places in the forwards and the halves.
The squad is already into pre-season training, with sessions held on Friday night and Saturday morning to accommodate players from outlying districts.
Carpenter has been thrilled to see the early buy-in from the players, and the commitment and dedication of those who are travelling from as far afield as Emerald, which is a six-hour round trip.
She said the squad members brought skill and versatility.
“We’ve got plenty to work with and I can’t wait to see how things go for us,” she said.
