Sale of Cliver Palmer's Marlborough cattle station postponed

Auctioneers Colliers International said the sale was postponed due to issues with mining exploration licences on the station.

THE auction of Federal MP Clive Palmer's Marlborough cattle station was postponed today, due to transparency issues with mining exploration licences on the land. 

Mamelon Station is a 6258ha grazing property sitting on the Bruce Hwy near Marlborough.

The station was bought from a grazing family for $8.25 million in 2010 by Mr Palmer's mining company, QNI Metals, for its underground coal resources.

But about 1.20pm the crowd was told due to recent developments, the sale would be pushed back until Wednesday.

A representative from Colliers International, the company responsible for the auction, said Mr Palmer had entered into three conduct and compensation agreements with Fairway Coal Pty Ltd and Styx Coal Pty Ltd who hold mining tenements over the property.

Bidders were told they would have more time to examine the agreements before the Wednesday auction, with Colliers International wanting to provide transparency for future owners.

The exploration licences are common across Queensland. 

The auction is now scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 23 at 1pm at Empire Apartments.
