Preliminary work on upgrades and overtaking lanes on Emu Park Road is underway, according to Member for Keppel Brittany Lauga.

Ms Lauga said the works were part of a $19 million State Government safety overhaul.

She said the Department of Transport and Main Roads had commenced planning activities to upgrade Emu Park Road.

She said the proposed scope of work included two overtaking lanes between Sleipner Road and Cawarral Road, pavement and road widening, safety improvements and clear zone clearing.

“I have been told TMR’s Fitzroy District is currently undertaking planning activities, including pavement investigations, ground survey, environmental and cultural heritage assessments, and developing a detailed design brief,” she said.

She said the detailed design of the Emu Park Road upgrade was anticipated to be finalised in February 2022, and construction was anticipated to start in August 2022, with completion expected in mid-2024.
