AFTER a sweltering summer, one Morning Bulletin reporter was shocked to see their electricity bill was $200 higher than the previous year.

AFTER a sweltering summer, one Morning Bulletin reporter was shocked to see their electricity bill was $200 higher than the previous year. Here's what our readers had to say about their bills.

Ainsley Hutchings: ...And if Newman gets in he's going to sell off the electrical companies... imagine how much future bills are going to be! My bill was $750 also for two adults and one child and we turn off every power point when leaving the house or going to bed!

Naomi Liersch: ...Try $1050 for a family of five with no air-con, no fans.

Greg MCcormack: $1500 two adults two children, + gas stove and hot water it's just too much.

Amy Spark: $80. Solar is the way to go! But in saying that this time last year we didn't receive a bill that quarter gave us $300 credit so definitely a big difference.

Trish Ryder: A credit cheque for $675. Thank you solar.

Pene Harris: Ours was around $300. Not too bad but we are careful with our usage, switch off lights when not used and a/c only at night.

Leah Grice: Six adults - $124 - used to be $1100 - live on property and all water involves an electric pump! I love my solar panels.

Mel Sophies-Mum Nelson: Two adults one child $930ish.

Sarah Schuemaker: Ours was $800. It's better than this time last year which was about $1400. Two adults and three kids. Our poor air-con has been getting a work out though.

Michelle Harrigan: $800 two adults, three children.

Susan Cunningham: $280, two adults.
