WITH a housing market full of selective buyers, Jenny Smith thought it would take some creativity to sell her home in beachside village Keppel Sands.

When her partner suggested a "spotter's fee" for the person who could find them a buyer, Jenny thought it would be a perfect way to grab the attention of friends and family on social media.

She said she planned to give $5000 to anyone who successfully referred a buyer. While Jenny isn't using an agent for the sale, she said it wasn't because she was "anti-real estate".

She said the market at Keppel Sands was slow and not having to hurry the sale made her decide something different.

"I'm just trying to be innovative in how I'm trying to sell my house," she said.

And with no need to sell in a hurry, Jenny said she could afford to wait until the right buyer came along.

Jenny and her husband built the Keppel Sands house in 2001.

Following her husband's death last year, Jenny said she felt it was time to move on with her life and leave the house behind.

Before posting the $5000 spotter's fee on Facebook, Jenny said she sought legal advice to make sure she had a correct set of rules in place for the deal.
