A three-bedroom home in North Rockhampton has sold under the hammer to a local family for $227,000.

The high-set property at 122 Cruikshank Street, Frenchville, sold at auction on July 6 through McGrath Rockhampton and Capricorn Coast.

McGrath Estate Agents principal Todd Brandon said he spoke to about 50 groups of buyers before going to auction.

Mr Brandon said there were 10 registered bidders at the auction with about 50 people in attendance.

“There was a good level of interest from multiple buyers,” he said.

“We had two registered bidders that weren’t local – one buyer was from Brisbane and another from Sydney. They participated in the auction online using the Auction Now platform.”

He said the buyers were a young family of three from Rockhampton.

He said the buyer planned to “live in the property for a little while, do it up and then roll it into an investment”.

“They are buying a home to move into that they know will become an investment property,” he said.

The property, which was built in 1980, boasted three bedrooms, one-bathroom, and a louvred, north-facing sunroom leading to an open-plan living and dining area with hardwood floors throughout.

Underneath the property boasted a concrete-floored lock-up garage with storage space.

The property was also close to schools and shops.

Mr Brandon said, although the property had “good bones”, it needed a “good cosmetic makeover” and “roof replacement”.

“It’s just going to take a bit of work for the buyers to turn it into something special, nice and their own,” he said.
