An established macadamia orchard situated on more than 1400 acres on the banks of the Fitzroy River has hit the market and is attracting strong global interest.

An established macadamia orchard situated on more than 1400 acres on the banks of the Fitzroy River has hit the market and is attracting strong global interest.

The property, known as Fitzroy Macadamias, is located at 1448 South Yaamba Road, South Yaamba, and is listed for sale through LAWD.

LAWD director Elizabeth Doyle said there was strong interest in the property, which is currently owned by Argyle Capital Partners, from both domestic and international corporate farming groups and institutional investors.

Ms Doyle said the property was operated by management group MacField Farms, which had a “strong desire to remain involved in the operation of the property”.

“This would allow for an effective transfer of site specific intellectual information, ongoing management and the capability to continue in the management of an institutional grade asset,” she said.

With about four kilometres of frontage to the Fitzroy River and a total land area of 1457.92 acres, 58 per cent of the property is comprised of a macadamia orchard with the balance comprising support and vegetation.

The property also boasts structural improvements including a de-husking facility, multiple workshops and storage sheds, as well as ample accommodation.

“This is an institutional grade established macadamia orchard that has undergone an extensive improvement program to remediate and improve orchard quality since acquisition with a focus on soil and tree health, irrigation and fertigation infrastructure and production volume and quality,” Ms Doyle said.

“The property features secure water irrigation, high level of irrigation development and is strategically located about 25km north of Rockhampton.
