Police are investigating a late-night incident where a train and car collided in Central Queensland after the driver had escaped the vehicle.

Authorities were called to the scene at Midgee, south of Rockhampton, just before midnight on Friday, December 5.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said a northbound freight train collided with a stationary vehicle at a road crossing.
“There wasn’t anyone in the vehicle - it was empty (at the time of the collision),” the QPS spokeswoman said.
“The person (occupant) got out of the car before the train came along.”
The QPS spokeswoman said no-one was injured during the incident and the car may have got stuck or broken down.
She said there were no indications the car was stolen.
“Investigations are very much ongoing.”
The QPS spokeswoman said the freight train was travelling to Kabra.
