A woman has faced court after a neighbourhood dispute over roaming dogs turned nasty in the Central Queensland town of Biloela.

Yvonne Estelle Gulf, 42, pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court on January 12 to unlawful assault, public nuisance, and unlawfully entering a yard.

The court heard the offending happened on November 30, 2021.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Kevin Ongheen said at 6.27pm on that day, the victim was at her house when she heard Gulf, who lived across the road, yelling out.

Words were exchanged, including Gulf swearing at the victim and telling her “I’m going to punch you in the mouth soon” and “lock your dogs up”.

The victim went back inside her house.

About 10 minutes later, the victim went outside to get her wheelie bin when she heard Gulf yelling out to her, including calling her “a c---”.

Sgt Ongheen said the victim began walking her wheelie bin towards her front fence and a short time later Gulf entered the victim’s yard.

He said the common assault was constituted by Gulf using both hands to push the victim backwards, contacting her face and chest.

Sgt Ongheen said Gulf continued to swear at the victim and continued calling her “a c---”.

The victim went inside and waited for police to arrive.

When questioned by police, Gulf said the victim’s dogs had entered her yard several times and she was “sick of it”.

Gulf admitted to entering the victim’s yard, saying she was trying to get her dog back.

The court heard that Gulf had a previous public nuisance offence on her history as well as other offences involving violence.

Solicitor Pierre Lammersdorf said Gulf had permanent full-time work as a mine site cleaner at Baralaba and she was very proud of that employment.

Mr Lammersdorf said Gulf had “come a long way” to turn her life around.

He explained that Gulf owned a small puppy and the victim owned two bigger dogs and Gulf was concerned about the larger animals.

Mr Lammersdorf said Gulf accepted her behaviour was not appropriate and Gulf had since moved from the residence.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale placed Gulf on probation for six months with conditions.

A conviction was recorded.
