Traffic offenders who faced Yeppoon Magistrates Court

A man tested positive to methamphetamine after police found him slumped over the steering wheel, with the keys in the ignition, at a Yeppoon shopping centre carpark.

The following people pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court recently to traffic offending on the region’s roads.

Yeppoon Magistrates Court, March 9

Traffic conviction recorded

Max James Petersen, 24

Max James Petersen returned a blood alcohol reading of .153 after police intercepted him driving on Rockhampton Road on March 5.

Petersen pleaded guilty to drink driving.

With no similar offending of this sort, Petersen was fined $900 and disqualified from driving for eight months.

Anthony Leon Djeldic, 39

Anthony Leon Djeldic tested positive to methamphetamine after police found him slumped over the steering wheel, with the keys in the ignition, at the Keppel Bay Plaza carpark at Yeppoon on January 1.

Djeldic pleaded guilty to being in charge of a vehicle with meth in his system.

The court heard Djeldic was a provisional licence holder at the time.

With a previous drug driving offence on his history from 2022, Djeldic was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for four months.

Ava Joy Thomas, 21

Ava Joy Thomas was caught driving while demerit point disqualified on Clayton Road, Yeppoon, on January 25.

Thomas pleaded guilty to unlicensed driving.

With no previous offending of this sort, Thomas was fined $300 and disqualified from driving for six months.

Lane Michael Sothman, 27

Lane Michael Sothman blew a reading of .072 after he was intercepted by police at Taranganba on January 27.

Sothman pleaded guilty to drink driving.

With no prior offending of this sort, Sothman was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for six weeks.

Joshua Phillip Ball, 30

Joshua Phillip Ball blew a reading of .120 after police intercepted him on Anzac Parade, Yeppoon, on February 4.

Ball pleaded guilty to drink driving.

With no offending of this sort in the past five years, Ball was fined $700 and disqualified from driving for six months.

He successfully applied for a work licence for his job as a plasterer.

Janelle Rewa Parascos, 41

Janelle Rewa Parascos was caught driving while SPER suspended on Churchill Street, Childers, on November 13 last year.

Parascos pleaded guilty to unlicensed driving.

The court heard that when Parascos was intercepted by police, she was driving back to Yeppoon, and she told police she was unaware that her licence was suspended.

She was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Allan Stanley Aspinall, 32

Allan Stanley Aspinall pleaded guilty to riding an unregistered and uninsured motor bike on Hartley Street, Zilzie, on February 14.

He was fined $450.
