Sue Duffy’s accused murderer Portmoresby “BJ” Cecil in court for drugs and weapons charges

A man accused of murdering a Rockhampton grandmother has appeared in court on fresh charges.

A Rockhampton man accused of murdering his mother-in-law has appeared in court for fresh charges.

Portmoresby “BJ” Cecil, 35, has been charged with one count of murder in relation to the death of Sue Duffy, 71, at Allenstown on August 21.

Mr Cecil was remanded in custody after that charge was laid.

He appeared via video link on November 3 in Rockhampton Magistrates Court in relation to four fresh charges including wilful damage and drug related offences.

Magistrate Grace Kahlert said the wilful damage charge was in relation to a car and the drug charges were laid after Mr Cecil was allegedly found in possession of marijuana, water pipes and a grinder, along with being in possession of knuckle dusters.

Mr Cecil’s murder charge will next be mentioned in court on November 16 and these fresh charges were adjourned until November 17.

He was not legally represented in court on November 3.
